personal history

I’m a writer and dabbler in other media, currently living in Brooklyn, New York.

I was born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1983. From there I migrated to Lexington, Kentucky, then to Tucson, Arizona, obtained an undergraduate degree in Providence, Rhode Island, then relocated to Cochabamba, Bolivia, living among the natives before returning to New York and the savages.

Which brings us to the present day. I’m a founding editor of the online magazineTriple Canopy, a contributing editor of Bidoun, and a researcher at Gentleman’s Quarterly.

Alexander Provan’s essay on Kafka was the most intelligent commentary on the lethal consequences of Hegel’s Aufhebung des Geistes that I have ever read.
I have sent the Kafka essay to all my literate, thoughtful friends.
My only question is: How did Alexander Provan reach such insights?
(As a Zen Buddhist practitioner, I was led to wonder what Zen’s reaction to Gregor Samsa’s metamorphosis might be.)

Yes, an excellent, if frightening, essay on Kafka.

    And on us.
